Welcome to the St. Louis Park Public Schools Foundation
The St. Louis Park Public Schools Foundation (SLPPSF),
founded in 2001, provides financial support to benefit the students of St. Louis Park Public Schools.
Traditional methods of public funding have become uncertain and often inadequate. An endowment managed by a Foundation can support important needs and programs when the limits of traditional funding will not or do not cover all costs. A gift to the Foundation is a great way to ensure continued excellence for our St. Louis Park learners.
The end of the school year is upon us. There is a teacher, counselor, coach or member of the staff that has made a difference in your child's life. Say thank you to them in a meaningful way by sending a "Gratitude Greeting." It's easy and a prefect way to not only say "Thank You" but also help that special person continue to do the great work they do.
Just click on "Gratitude Greeting" to learn more.
The Foundation awarded twenty-nine thousand dollars to fund six projects during the current school year. They are a $10,000 award to St. Louis Park Early Childhood Readiness, $5000 to Aquila Elementary School for an ceramic arts residency, $3,000 to SLP Junior High School to support training in video and $3000 to support reading literacy across the curriculum, $3,000 for a Spanish book bag program to increase literacy at the Spanish Immersion School. A $5,000 grant funded literacy initiatives at Perspectives. The organization serves youth enrolled in SLP schools and offers summer academic tutoring for the children. Teachers and staff designed and implemented the projects.
The Foundation is offering approximately $30,000 to fund mini-grants for the 2008-00 school year, with information available at the Mini-Grant Fair and on this website. Click here for more information. Any teacher or staff person who is interested in the granting program is encouraged to attend. Applications are due to the Foundation by May 9. The 2008-09 grant recipients will be announced in June.
